Land Acknowledgement

We recognize the unique and enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous People and their traditional territories.

As residents of Prince George’s County, we would like to acknowledge that we gather on the traditional lands of the Mattapanient, the Patuxent, the Piscataway, the Moyaone and the Pamunkey.

We honor the past and present, and with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations.

A formal recognition of the original stewards of the land and their connection to it.

To honor and show gratitude as a sign of respect and willingness to heal. The more we talk about displacement and gentrification it is important to center the conversations of land use on Indigenous Peoples.
